Throughout history, trivia has always been more than a game.

In ancient Greece, scholars tested each other’s wit in symposiums. In 12th-century Baghdad, thinkers debated questions in bustling libraries. Even in medieval Europe, monarchs used riddles and logic games to assess the sharpness of their advisors.

Today, a new chapter in that centuries-old tradition is being written, one that blends human curiosity with cutting-edge Web3 technology.

We’re proud to announce the launch of the MOT Token on GeckoTerminal, the official utility token of the Masters of Trivia platform. Built on the Solana blockchain and backed by a thriving global community of over 200,000 players, MOT is the first step in transforming trivia into an economic, educational, and social engine for the 21st century.

December 11, 1978 – The Lufthansa Heist at JFK Airport

In the early morning hours, a well-organized group of criminals executed what would become one of the most infamous heists in American history. Nearly $6 million in untraceable U.S. dollars and jewels was stolen from the Lufthansa cargo building at JFK Airport in New York, a sum worth over $25 million today. The robbery was swift, silent, and shockingly effective.

What followed was even more chilling: one by one, those suspected of knowing too much were silenced, creating a trail of murders that would keep the crime shrouded in mystery for decades.

📌 Why This Matters

The Lufthansa heist wasn’t just a crime: it became a cultural milestone. Its story inspired books, documentaries, and even Hollywood’s Goodfellas. It exposed deep ties between organized crime and airport operations, and how a handful of men could outsmart institutions meant to safeguard millions.

🎯 How Much Do You Know About the 1978 Lufthansa Heist?

Despite law enforcement’s efforts, most of the money was never recovered, and no one was ever convicted for the actual robbery. The supposed mastermind, Jimmy Burke (aka “The Gent”), was immortalized in Goodfellas as Jimmy Conway. But the silence of the mob ensured the truth was buried under layers of loyalty, fear, and bodies.
